It’s going to be a great weekend to get outside and #DiscoverAbiquiu! Temperatures are on the rise for the weekend, making it a great time to enjoy fall weather in the Abiquiu area. There are many hiking trails and cultural/historical sites to explore.

And, a huge welcome and shout-out to guests at #TheCasitadelLago and #AbiquiuLakeMesa this weekend: Trixie from Santa Fe, Beth from New York, and Sheleigh from New Holland, PA.

Friday, November 8

  • Hot air balloons will be gracing the morning skies around Ghost Ranch through Saturday morning. There will also be balloon glows each afternoon as the sun begins to set. Free.

  • Georgia O’Keeffe Home and Studio Tour - 2 spots left at 9:15 tour. Fee.

  • Ladies of the Canyons Exhibit at Ghostranch. An exhibit based on Lesley Poling-Kempes’ book of the same name that tells the true stories of remarkable women from the East Coast, among them Ghost Ranch founder Carol Bishop Stanley. She, along with a handful of other pioneering women, left the security and comforts of Victorian society and journeyed into the rugged terrain of the American Southwest in search of discovering their individual potential within the rapidly changing world of the early 1900’s. 9 - 5. Free.

Saturday, November 9

  • Last day of Hot Air Balloons at Ghostranch

  • Ladies of the Canyons Exhibit at Ghostranch open 9 - 5.

  • 8th Annual Heartbeat of Gratitude Gourd Dance from 1 - 9, at Ghostranch. The Gourd Dance began as a warrior’s dance and originated from the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma. Gourd dances have become intertribal dances and celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, graduations, anniversaries and to remember those who have journeyed on to the spirit world, as well as to send off war veterans to the front line and for their safe return home. Ghost Ranch gourd dance was founded on the notion to promote the well-being of a community, for healing & to strengthen intertribal relations, native & non-native. Donation.

  • Artists on the Portal -buy local and hand made art - visit several artist booths from 10 - 3. Portal outside Abiquiu Inn. Free to look!

Sunday, November 10:

  • O’keeffe landscapes trail ride at Ghoatranch. There are three spots left for the 10 am ride. You will ride out to the area where Georgia O’Keeffe found her inspiration, completed several paintings and owned a home. Fee.

  • Harvest Brunch. Celebrate the end of the season with Northern Youth Project. Enjoy delicious locally sourced food, live music, art, & a silent auction! The event will be held at the beautiful Dar Islam Mosque, up in the hills of Abiquiu off of County Road 155 from 10am-1pm. 

Monday, November 11

  • We thank all our veterans for their service. Active Military and First Responders - enjoy a free lunch at Cafe Abiquiu from 11 AM - 4 PM (alcohol not included, military ID required).
