Fall 2018 Update: Surround Yourself with the Most Spectacular Views
Hello to our family of guests and friends of The Casita del Lago and Abiquiú Lake Mesa!
The long, sunny days of Abiquiú's summer, with the bright blue skies and colorful mesas, are giving away to the crisp, golden days of fall with a fresh palette of color. The beauty that surrounds us in Abiquiú is at its finest. In the fall, after the busy summer months, we take the time to pause, and enjoy – and look forward to the changing seasons. And so, already, we are looking forward to Summer 2019.
We are in the development stages of a new vacation offering that we look forward to announcing next summer – so please stay in touch! Also, we wanted to reach out to all of you first to let you know that we have opened the calendar for reservations for Summer 2019. Because we have sold out every summer month for the last five years, we want those of you who have been loyal to us for so many years to have first choice of the prime summer vacation days. You can now book directly with us on our new website, where you will always receive the lowest rates by booking direct and never pay additional service fees. We love our VRBO and AirBNB partners, but it is more cost effective for our repeat guests to book direct and receive the best pricing.
This summer was one full of change and adventure.
We sold our home in Texas and moved full-time to Abiquiú Lake, where we are building our new home on a mesa overlooking the lake. We also purchased a second vacation rental home - Abiquiú Lake Mesa. This one-bedroom, one-bath home has all the amenities that you've come to expect from us: hot tub, fire pit, fire place, air conditioning, WIFI, luxurious linens, great service, modern conveniences, and incredible views. The home sits on seven acres on a mesa above Abiquiú Lake. Like The Casita del Lago, the views are majestic. We've branded the two vacation rental homes under the name Abiquiú Lake Vacations.
We checked off a bucket-list item by hiking to the top of Pedernal. We became certified scuba divers. We absolutely love hiking and exploring New Mexico as full-time residents.
Abiquiu has Exciting Updates, Too!
The new and beautiful Georgia O’Keeffe Welcome Center is open – a wonderful building fit for her legacy in the area. In addition to tours of O’Keeffe’s Home and Studio, the site is the starting point for Wednesdays with O’Keeffe, a tour that showcases the best of O’Keeffe and the Abiquiu area that she loved.
A sculpture art garden is now part of the grounds outside #CafeAbiquiu - free to wonder through and admire the art.
October 6, 7 and 8 features the 25th annual Abiquiu Studio Tour of local artist galleries and workshops.
We also are happy to announce the #AbiquiuProduceStand farmer’s market on Tuesdays from 5 – 7.
A wonderful new bakery shop called #Flourchild's opened this week, specializing in breads, pastries and desserts.
The new medical center is open and Abiquiú now has a volunteer fire department.
