About the Event

OVERVIEW

Imagine a retreat with luxury accommodations on Abiquiu Lake, where 360' vistas in every direction will leave you in awe, and where you will expand your creative element under the guidance of renowned artists in a wonderful river studio.  Imagine rejuvenating your soul and immersing yourself in art, culture, history, friendship and personal discovery.

Join your hosts - artists Debra Fritts, Frank Shelton, and hospitality hosts Carolyn and Tom Calfee - at this luxury retreat where you will connect the spirit of art and the soul of the land in beautiful Abiquiu, New Mexico.  This land is both spiritual and magical, and is the perfect playground for like-minded people to take a journey on a soulful adventure that connects the land with spirit and art.  You do not have to be an artist to take this journey!

A minimum of eight participants are required and we must cap the participants at 16.

ACTIVITIES

Every morning we will wake in a gorgous setting on Abiquiu Lake, followed by a sit down breakfast together at The Grand Hacienda Bed and Breakfast.  Morning sessions will open our minds to allow freeing, creative and new thinking to enter our daily lives. Morning walks to the lake, exploring the land, meditation and journaling sessions - each day will start with liberating and thought-provoking activities.

Afternoon sessions will include three studio sessions at Studio One Thirty Nine, the studio of Debra and Frank, where you will connect the beauty and spirit of this magical land with amazing creations.  Experiment with clay under the guidance of reknown artist Debra Fritts.  Explore creativity and find your own voice using mixed media with artist Frank Shelton. Journal your experience. Stay in paradise.

Excursions will allow us to connect to the beauty, local history and culture of this area. We will explore authentic cooking and meals; visit the studios of local artists; enjoy a "cowboy cookout" in a spectacular setting; experience walks and tours of cultural significance; and learn about Ancient Puebloan life and visit ruins.

This exposure to creative thinking and daily observations will open the “self” to move forward and experience a full artful life. You will discover that one does not have to be a full-time studio artist to live an artful life. In fact, we encourage people with diverse backgrounds and passions to join us on this journey.

A full agenda will be posted in mid-2020.
